Morgantown at a glance

This short video presents an aerial view of Morgantown, West Virginia in the United States of America. It was created by Aerial Aptitude. The video of Morgantown from above highlights the natural beauty (abundant green areas, hills, the important Monogahela River, Coopers Rock) and the cultural diversity of the Morgantown area. The video portraits the love and passion that US university towns have for sport (football, baseball among others). It showcases local parks, as well as downtown and surrounding areas. We see Morgantown’s two high schools as well as the impressive infrastructure of West Virginia University. It allows to see the PRT (a monorail) that provides excellent and affordable transportation to community members, avoiding (lessening) traffic jams. It is an overall impressive view of Morgantown with its mountains, river, lake and bridges.

This photo was taken in 2010. The occasion was a formal acknowledgment of the relationship between Guanajuato and Morgantown. It shows a meeting of the two mayors, Bill Byrne, Mayor of Morgantown (3rd from left) and Nicéforo Guerro Reynoso (Mayor of Guanajuato) (next to him, 4th from left), President of the Council. Bill had earlier travelled to Guanajuato in 2007 to begin the relationship. Also shown in the picture from left: Mimmie Byrne, Bill’s wife (2nd from left) Bill Byrne, Nicéforo Guerro Reynoso, Pam Hodge (Chair of the Morgantown Sister Cities Commission, Barry Hodge (Pam’s husband) and Amanda Pritzer. Two local school kids appear. The picture was taken in Los Pastitos in Guanajuato Capital.
